Kyampagi Phase 3 Project: Transforming Lives Through Education and Rotary Collaboration

The serene grounds of Kyampagi Primary School in Kyotera District became a hub of hope and transformation on Saturday, 12th October. Members from RC & RAC Bwebajja, RC Kyotera, RC Nateete Kampala, and RC Konge Lukuli gathered for the Kyampagi Project Phase 3. This initiative was a testament to the Rotary spirit, focusing on one of Rotary’s seven critical areas of focus: Basic Education and Literacy.

The day’s activities brought life-changing improvements to the school. The donation of desks and scholastic materials provided pupils with tools to learn effectively, tree planting introduced a greener, healthier environment, and the highlight—a newly constructed Nursery Section Classroom block—marked the beginning of a brighter future for the youngest learners.

MD Daniel Settuba, representing RC Bwebajja President Andrew Ssennabulya, shared heartfelt remarks, reflecting on the school’s previous lack of a nursery section. “When we recognized the need, we convened as a club and decided to start construction of the classroom block,” he said. His words underscored the profound impact of collective action, addressing a critical gap that had hindered pupil performance for years.

The President of RC Kyotera expressed deep gratitude for the collaboration that brought this vision to life. However, the school headmaster appealed for continued support, highlighting the pressing need for additional space to accommodate growing pupil numbers.

RC Konge Lukuli’s President, Joyce Nakalembe, spoke passionately about the power of partnerships, affirming her club’s commitment to the school’s ongoing development. Her act of awarding two pupils with school fees for the upcoming academic year was a poignant reminder of Rotary’s personal touch—meeting real needs, one child at a time.

The Kyampagi Project is a shining example of why supporting schools is vital. Education is the key to breaking cycles of poverty and empowering children to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. When children stay in school, they gain critical life skills, improved health outcomes, and the potential to lift their families and communities out of hardship. Moreover, the environment of learning nurtures values of teamwork, discipline, and problem-solving—qualities that shape responsible citizens and future leaders.

Basic Education and Literacy remain at the heart of Rotary’s mission to create lasting change. By investing in initiatives like the Kyampagi Project, Rotarians are sowing seeds of hope, knowledge, and opportunity.

This project reminds us that together, we can turn challenges into stepping stones and ensure that every child has a chance to thrive. Rotary’s commitment to education continues to shine brightly, proving that when we come together for a common cause, we truly create a world of difference.
