Bwebajja Clubs celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Africa

As Rotary in Africa celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Bwebajja launched a momentous project: Seedlings for Sustainability, on July 1, 2024. Aligned with District 9214’s 2024/25 theme, “Plant Your Balance,” this initiative aims to plant over 1,000 trees throughout the community.

Engaging Schools in a Greener Future

Seedlings for Sustainability partnered with 11 schools along Entebbe Road, fostering collaboration between students, educators, and residents. Each school received a portion of the seedlings, promoting environmental responsibility and awareness.

The project kicked off at Bright Future Secondary School, Bwebajja, and concluded with a celebratory finale at Boston High School, Mpala. A vibrant atmosphere filled the schools as energetic performances energized the crowds. School administration, learners, Rotarians and Rotaractors all came together to celebrate their commitment to a greener future.

Planting Seeds of Change

“Our goal is not just to plant trees but to plant seeds of awareness and responsibility towards the environment,” stated Rtn Andrew Ssenabulya, President of RC Bwebajja, at the launch ceremony. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with Rotary’s mission to create lasting positive change.

Rtr. Kiiza Godfrey, President of the Rotaract Club of Bwebajja, echoed this sentiment. “The youth are the stewards of our future,” he remarked. “Through this project, we hope to inspire them to take proactive steps in conserving our environment.”
