Week 22 was another defining moment for RC Bwebajja, filled with inspiring events, meaningful projects, and a celebration of Rotary’s spirit of service. The highlight of the week was the Anns & Andys TRF Fundraiser on November 28th, 2024 which set the tone for the entire period. This event brought together distinguished guests, including Chief Guest MD Rosemary Bareebe and Past District Governors Ken Wycliffe Mugisha and Peace Taremwa. It was a great success for the club, raising a total of 16,345,000 Ugandan Shillings, with 6 million contributed by corporate partners.
The evening showcased exceptional contributions to The Rotary Foundation. MD Newton Apollo Mwesigye was recognized as the highest individual contributor, while Rtn. Rehema Nambooze was acknowledged as the highest new Rotarian donor. Buddy Groups also demonstrated remarkable commitment, with contributions like $3,810 from the Buzzi Buddy Group and $3,226 from the Kakindu Buddy Group, among others. The night concluded with an inspiring performance by Winnie Nwagi, who energized everyone present and left a lasting impression.
The momentum from this successful fundraiser continued into impactful community projects. On November 29th, members traveled to Isingiro District to hand over a WASH project to Nyamuyanja Health Centre IV, with PDG Urs Herzog as the Guest of Honor. The next day, November 30th, featured the “Rwamwanja Phase IV Project,” which included donations of reusable sanitary pads and desks to Engari Mixed Primary School and Sya Primary School, as well as planting 8,000 eucalyptus trees and 100 fruit trees at Omungari Church of Uganda in Kazo District. The week reached a climax on December 1st with another WASH project handover at Nakivale Refugee Camp, carried out in partnership with WE HELP Foundation, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to community development.
RC Bwebajja also celebrated Rotary’s growth by participating in the launch of RC Kazo in-formation, a new club supported by RC Kajjansi and RC Ibanda. President Andrew led the club’s delegation to this event, symbolizing RC Bwebajja’s dedication to expanding Rotary’s reach and influence.
In addition to these projects, the week’s spirit of fellowship was embraced through warm home hospitalities. On November 29th, MD Annie Ninyesiga welcomed members to her family home in Isingiro after the Nyamuyanja handover. The next day, Honorary Member PDG Peace Taremwa hosted a gathering at his country home in Omungari, Kazo District, further strengthening bonds of camaraderie.
In conclusion, Week 22 of this magical Rotary year was filled with inspiration, impact, and service. The dedication and passion of each member exemplified the power of collective action to transform communities. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this week truly extraordinary!
