Buzzi Magical Impact Day: Supporting Mothers and Empowering Youth

On July 18, 2024, the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Bwebajja’s Buddy Group, Buzzi, hosted an uplifting event known as Buzzi Magical Impact Day. This special day combined essential maternal health support with vibrant youth empowerment initiatives, aiming to improve maternal and child health at Kitala Health Center II and promote economic empowerment in Buzzi village.

The day began with a visit to Kitala Health Center II, where the group provided crucial support to expectant mothers. They generously donated mama kits and baby clothing—basic yet vital supplies that can significantly improve the health and safety of both mothers and newborns. These kits, filled with essential delivery items, help ensure safer childbirth, especially in areas with limited resources. The baby clothes help keep newborns warm and reduce the risk of infections, promoting better postnatal care.

The event was honored by the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Katabi Town Council, showing strong local government support for these important community efforts. District Rotaract Representative Joseph Batter Ssengooba also attended, demonstrating the solid backing of Rotaract District 9214 for grassroots projects that enhance community welfare.

The second part of the day focused on youth empowerment in Buzzi Village. A special talk was held for young people, covering essential topics like entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and skill development. This session aimed to inspire and equip the youth with the knowledge and confidence they need to pursue economic opportunities and build sustainable futures.

Environmental sustainability was a key theme throughout the day. The group planted trees at both Kitala Health Center II and in Buzzi village, symbolizing a commitment to protecting the environment. These trees will enhance the local ecosystem and serve as a lasting reminder of the positive impact of community-driven initiatives.

Buddy Group Buzzi’s dual focus on maternal health and youth empowerment highlights their holistic approach to community development. By addressing immediate healthcare needs and fostering long-term economic resilience, the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Bwebajja showed the multifaceted nature of meaningful community service.

This Impact Day showcased the power of collaboration and the enduring spirit of Rotary and Rotaract in driving positive change. Through initiatives like these, we continue to build stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities, embodying the true spirit of service above self.
